Costumes
When you know that you’ll be taking someone else, why worry about finding
and choosing two different costumes? The easier route is to find couple
costumes that you can wear, including both of you in a certain theme or design. And
if you’re in the running for a costume contest, you’ll certainly get ahead
of the competition with the creativity of these costume designs.
Why two is better than one
Aside from the obvious ease of choosing a costume set, couple costumes are
also a great way to show and celebrate that you are a couple. By your
choice of costume, you can show the seriousness of your relationship – though
usually it’s the silliness. And for the rest of the night, you will get
to stand together for the full effect of the costume, or mingle separately and
get to introduce your other half as a part of your over costume – this is
perfect for the new couple that is introducing themselves to everyone for the
first time.
What you can find
First of all, couple costumes require that you have a sense of humor about
them. Costumes like the Plug and Socket costume or the Hot Dog and Ketchup
set are both great ways to showcase your togetherness – or perhaps you can be
a matching salt and pepper shaker. Foods tend to work really well for the
couple costumes because everyone will understand the ‘joke’ of the costumes. You
could be a liquor case by heading out in a Beer and a Tequila Costume or go as a
fruit bowl with a lime wedge and a banana.
Be more creative with couple costumes by going as a Ball and Chain – no
doubt, showing the commitment in your relationship. Or you can show off
with an Adam and Eve costume set, complete with fig leaves in appropriate places
as well as headdresses and a snake – isn’t it tempting?
If you’re bowling lovers, then you can go as a Bowling Ball and a Bowling
Pin. Or perhaps you’d like to suggest something more risqué with a giant
pair of handcuffs that goes around the both of you. Famous couple costumes
are also a great way to make your costume statement – the more controversial,
the better. Or find a couple from a movie that you would like to imitate. Just
find one thing that will make the costume obvious so that you’re not
explaining your costume to everyone. At the least, you can wear nametags to
give the joke away.
How to complete the look
What you’ll want to do is try to stand next to each other for most of the
night in order to get the full effect of couple costumes. Otherwise, some
partygoers may not fully ‘get’ the creative costume that you are wearing. Of
course, if you tend to be a couple that likes to mingle, you will want to choose
a costume that doesn’t attach the two of your together – like the Handcuffs,
for example.
Couple costumes are a fun way to go to a party as a couple or as two close
friends. You might even want to separate just so that you can explain your
